Financial Help and Advice

 

If you’re struggling with debt, it can be hard to know where to turn. There are lots of free advice services available across the UK,  where you can find help in a way that’s best for you. Below are several examples that may be helpful to you.

The Government Debt Advice Page

The web page is https://www.gov.uk/debt-advice. The page links you to various external websites that may help you with debt issues.

 

Entitled to
The website entitledto.co.uk has a calculator you can use to see if you might qualify for any state benefits. You will need to be ready to answer questions about your household situation and your income, and it will present a list of any payments you might be eligible for. For each one, it offers information and details of how to make a claim.

Turn2us
The money matters charity offers a calculator at benefits-calculator.turn2us.org.uk. You will need the same details to answer its questions. At the end it presents a list of benefits you might qualify for, plus links to the sites you will need to start a claim. Turn2us also has a ‘grants search’ tool where you can find out if you could get help in the form of charitable grants.

Citizens Advice
The we
bsite citizensadvice.org.uk has information on benefits and a calculator. The charity also offers help via the telephone or in person.  The Newbury branch is at 01635 516605.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

This is a free debt help service sponsored by churches across Newbury. It supports people from all faiths and none, and it’s completely free.
